Short answer: The safest useful first step is to identify the installed roof window, not the gasket that seems visually similar. Roto publishes separate German spare-parts lists for Designo R6 Kunststoff, Klassik 73 Kunststoff and RotoQ Q4 Kunststoff. A code such as 1-033 is a drawing/item reference within an identified product list, not evidence that one part fits every window that shows that number. Start with the label on the window, match the complete family/variant and available vintage information to the document heading, then contact Roto or its appointed service partner to confirm the serviceable part.
Why three diagrams are not one replacement catalog
A service illustration is intended to show component positions in a defined window family. Roto's Designo R6 Kunststoff German list states valid in Germany from 1 June 2026. On its exploded illustration, the sash seal is numbered 1-033 Flügeldichtung; the additional sash seal is shown as 1-036 Zusatz-Flügeldichtung, while 1-215 Abdeckrahmendichtung names a distinct cover-frame seal. The following Bildstückliste (illustrated parts table, printed page 2, PDF page 3) uses those numbered references in the Designo R6 list. A reader should not treat 1-033 as a model-independent orderable SKU. [R10P012]
The manufacturer has also issued separate Klassik 73 Kunststoff and RotoQ Q4 Kunststoff service sheets, each identified in the R10 issuer-evidence register as a German 1 June 2026 edition. Their separate titles and diagrams are the relevant lesson: a reference encountered in one list must be read with that document's heading and variant. The original draft examined the Designo R6 document at figure level; later Wave6 changed-only source status reports issuer-page checks for the named 2026 families, but this local candidate does not recheck full PDFs or quote any cross-family item-number correspondence. A current service query must identify the exact document edition. [R10P013–R10P014; follow-up source check]
| Evidence on hand | What you can conclude | What you cannot conclude |
|---|---|---|
| Installed window's full model/type label | An identity to give the manufacturer's service team | That any lookalike aftermarket gasket fits |
| Roto PDF title, German region, effective date | Which edition and family the drawing describes | That its list covers an unverified production variant |
Diagram pointer such as 1-033 |
A way to locate a named component within that document | A universal part number or interchange rule |
| Photo of visible seal and location | Where the symptom was observed | Material specification, hidden profile or certified assembly suitability |
A non-destructive identification record
- Photograph the full window from a safe indoor position with the sash in its ordinary resting position. Identify the visible location of the issue: sash edge, frame perimeter, interior trim or glazing-adjacent seal. A failed seal should not be diagnosed from a distant draft alone.
- Record the window type label as found. If a model/serial label is already visible during normal permitted use, photograph it or copy its printed model, complete subtype, dimensions, manufacturing/production markings and region. If the label requires a risky reach, forced opening or sash removal, stop and ask an appropriate service provider; do not access the roof or remove glazing.
- Choose a service sheet by title first. Compare the word-for-word product-family name with the label or written paperwork. Do not infer that
RotoQ,KlassikandDesignoidentify the same assembly just because a drawing looks familiar. - Annotate a printout, not the window. Write the document date, printed page, figure/item number and the component's German name. For the verified Designo R6 list,
FlügeldichtungandZusatz-Flügeldichtungrefer to separately numbered positions; never collapse these into one unspecified “window gasket.” - Describe a profile without removing it. If an exposed undamaged end can safely be seen, capture a scale photo with a ruler adjacent to (not pushed into) the exposed seal. Note whether a receiving groove is visible, broad location, and whether the seal is compressed or torn. Enter “not visible” for hidden dimensions and do not peel or stretch old seals just to measure them.
- Ask for a written exact-unit identification. Supply the label privately, PDF family/edition, item callout and photos. Ask whether the described component is a separate service part for the installed serial/vintage and which approved instructions apply. A seller's visual match or part table alone is insufficient.
Example question for Roto service
“My indoor identification photo shows [full exact window label]. The German parts PDF titled [family title], valid [edition], shows [printed page and callout] at the place circled on my photo. I have not removed the sash or seal. Does this specific window variant use that component, what is its current original service identification, and what is the authorized service method?”
That question also works when a label cannot be reached: tell the service team exactly which identity fields and safe photos are missing instead of guessing a part.
Family and drawing worksheet
| Field | Copy from source or observed unit | Why not to skip it |
|---|---|---|
| Model label / full type / suffix | __________ or unknown | Similar-looking sashes can be different families |
| Place of installation and service region | __________ | A DE parts sheet may not govern another market |
| Family name printed on the PDF cover | __________ | A RotoQ page cannot silently stand in for Designo R6 |
| Issue/effective date and printed page | __________ | Illustrated parts lists change by issue |
| Exact item callout and German term | __________ | Flügel / Blendrahmen refer to distinct component locations |
| Visible affected position and photo | __________ | A symptom is not a diagnosed gasket failure |
| Service response for exact serial/vintage | pending | Part stock, compatibility and method cannot be deduced from the diagram |
Three questions before ordering
Does an item number from a R6 drawing identify a universal part? No. It identifies a drawing/table entry within the referenced family and edition, and may not be the complete current order number.
What if my paper documents say Klassik 73 but a seller links to RotoQ? Stop and ask Roto to reconcile the installed label to a service list. Visual similarity of a seal or window is insufficient.
What if water is visible around the window? Record where/when it appears, but do not assume the sash gasket is at fault. Condensation, flashing, glazing and installation are alternative possible causes; specialist diagnosis may be required.
Stop points and unknowns
A roof window is not an ordinary ground-level door. Do not stand on the roof, defeat opening limiters, detach glazing, dismantle pivots or pull an inaccessible gasket to make an identification photograph. A leak can originate from installation or flashing, glazing, the window itself or condensation as well as a visible seal; this guide does not establish the failure cause. No exact replacement part, regional interchange, variant-level fit, water-tightness performance or safe DIY replacement has been confirmed for any of the original W410 keys. If the window is electrically operated or inaccessible, ask a specialist to inspect it.
