Short answer: On YKK AP's April 30, 2024 Swing Door Installation manual, printed p.26, an optional bottom-sweep detail labels E9-0347 as the sweep base, E2-0067 as the sweep gasket, E9-0348 as the cover and PC-0808 as the fastener reference. These are different component roles within the specific drawing, not four interchangeable gasket names or a 2026 parts-ordering list. Before naming a replacement, identify the door system, installed option and job-specific schedule. [Y1]
Four labels, four questions
| Label in 2024 Detail 31 | Component role in that illustration | Evidence to record when contacting support | What remains unconfirmed |
|---|---|---|---|
| E9-0347 | Rigid sweep base positioned at the lower rail | Wide interior-side bottom-rail image; visible mounting location | Whether the base or a later revision is fitted to your door |
| E2-0067 | Flexible sweep gasket making contact toward the threshold | Stationary-door close-up of the flexible edge and contact point | Gasket revision, dimensions, wear cause and fit |
| E9-0348 | Sweep cover paired with the illustrated base | Photo of the visible cover and where it appears loose | Whether a loose cover means the flexible seal is wrong |
| PC-0808 | Fasteners illustrated for that step | Project hardware schedule, original notes, and observable fastener head without removal | Safe drilling location, quantity, substitution or fastener length |
These component names are confined to STEP 11 (OPTIONAL), DETAIL 31 (Viewed from Interior) of document 01-4003-16. The printed page also discusses an illustrated dual-sweep arrangement for 35XT and 50XT. It is not safe to generalize that option to every YKK AP door family. [Y1]
Which symptom belongs to which question?
A sweep that appears loose at the cover is a different observation from a missing flexible gasket. A visible gap at the threshold is different again: it might reflect gasket placement, clearance, door alignment, hardware or an unrelated water path. A scraping sound does not identify the failed part. Write the observed symptom and exact position before comparing it with the drawing.
| What you see or feel | Safe documentation question | Avoid concluding |
|---|---|---|
| Cover appears separated at one corner | Is the visible outer piece the cover identified by the relevant installed manual? | “The gasket is missing” without seeing it |
| Flexible edge is torn or displaced | Does the installed option include a serviceable gasket and which version? | “Any E2-0067 listing fits” |
| Daylight or apparent contact gap at threshold | Does door close/latch normally; where is the gap visible? | “Increase compression,” “drill a new sweep,” or “seal the threshold” |
| Bottom rail catches, latch resists, door fails to close | Is safe operation impaired? | Keep using/adjusting it as a DIY gasket experiment |
If closure, egress hardware, accessibility or security function is compromised, stop trial adjustments and refer to facility maintenance or authorized commercial door service. Never obstruct an exit, prop a rated door or change fasteners based on this article.
Five-photo field packet
Take only photographs that can be captured while the door is safely stationary. Do not put fingers into pinch points or approach an automatic door mechanism.
- Full opening: from the interior, show one or two leaves, bottom rail and frame. Mark the operable leaf and any system/model label, without removing cover plates.
- Threshold span: a wide low photo showing the bottom edge and the full contact run. Photograph from a safe distance rather than lying beneath a powered or swinging leaf.
- Component close-up: show the exposed gasket edge, if present, and separately the cover. Do not lever the cover off to get a dramatic “cross section.”
- Annotated observation: sketch
lower rail → base → gasket → thresholdandvisible cover. PutPOSSIBLEbefore each part label until the installed detail is confirmed. Note exactly where scraping, a loose cover or a contact gap occurs. - Identity/evidence document: photo or copy of any accessible product sticker, installation/manual number, approved project drawing, door schedule or service work order. Write its date and revision.
Keep photos and labels together. A close-up of an unlabelled rubber edge by itself cannot confirm the manufacturer's installed assembly.
Decision worksheet for a service enquiry
| Field | Record this, not an inferred value |
|---|---|
| System and opening | Original manufacturer, series, single/pair, opening location |
| Installation/generation | Approximate build year and original job/shop drawing reference, if known |
| Sweep option | Evidence that a sweep is fitted; one or two sweeps visible; unknown if concealed |
| Part role | Base / flexible contact / cover / fastener / unclear |
| Symptom | Which edge, how far along, whether normal closure or latching is affected |
| Drawing provenance | Manual number, printed page, detail, revision/date (e.g., 01-4003-16 p.26 is only a comparison reference) |
| Fit authority | Manufacturer/qualified service confirmation for exact door and assembly, or NOT_CONFIRMED |
Where a row is unknown, leave it unknown. If someone offers a part based solely on E2-0067 visible on an online PDF, ask them to check the original ordered option, door family, threshold assembly and current service bulletin. An installation drawing can explain anatomy without establishing current stock or supersession.
Why the edition matters
Document 01-4003-16, effective April 30, 2024, is a YKK AP swing-door installation manual whose title includes 20D, 35D, 50D, 35DH, 40M/50M, 25FD, 25T/35T/50T and 35XT/50XT manufactured before April 30, 2024, among listed context. This is a bounded document—not a statement that all those doors use one sweep or that every product currently being serviced uses the same component set. Its general notes point users to the latest instructions and applicable job/shop drawings. [Y1]
Do not use the illustration as a retrofit instruction. Installation type, approved threshold pairing, hardware layout, door operation and any performance rating are project-specific. On fire/smoke-control, accessibility and egress routes, seek the approved assembly documents and qualified site authorization; neither the diagram nor this explanatory guide grants it.
Questions owners often ask
Is E9-0348 a replacement gasket? The cited illustration uses E9-0348 for a cover, while E2-0067 labels the flexible gasket. That explains the drawing's vocabulary; it does not establish the installed option. [Y1]
If the sweep drags, can I trim the gasket? No cutting or field modification is supported here. First document the issue and have the responsible service team check door alignment, actual sweep instructions and closure/latching requirements.
Does the optional drawing prove my door has a sweep? No. Verify your installed option and current manufacturer instructions; the 2024 source itself labels the step optional. [Y1]
Does the four-item list approve a gasket for water or smoke control? No. A part-role diagram cannot certify the full door/threshold system or establish a rated-assembly substitution.
