Sources & evidence
How sources are used
Sources support terminology, profile families, mounting interfaces and specific observations. They do not automatically prove that a part fits your exact door, window or garage-door system.
Source scope matters: a source that supports a generic kerf-in bulb profile does not, by itself, prove an OEM part number, universal dimensions or replacement compatibility.
What you can see on this site
- Profile pages list the public source links used for the claims shown on that page.
- Measurement guides explain what to record and where uncertainty should be preserved.
- Comparison pages state the practical distinction and a stop rule when similar-looking profiles are not necessarily interchangeable.
- Reference graphics are labeled as schematics when they are not exact product depictions.
Evidence states in plain English
- Source-backed
- The generic profile family, term or observation is supported by the cited source scope.
- Partial
- Some useful evidence exists, but a key identity or geometry detail is still incomplete.
- Unverified
- The available information is not strong enough to present the claim as established.

Browse the profile atlas, follow the source links on individual profile pages, or read the methodology for the separation between generic identification and exact fit.
