Short answer. Marvin's Essential Casement parts illustration identifies two distinct weatherstrip positions: sash weather strip V147, callout 3, and frame weather strip V03477, callout 4. The moving sash and surrounding stationary frame are not a single interchangeable “window gasket.”
Find the number from its installed position
On printed page 3, the Essential Casement “Part Identification — Casement Operator” cross-section labels V147 on the sash and V03477 at the frame. On printed page 15, the configured-parts section depicts differently shaped cross-sections for the two items. Use both pages—one identifies where the strip belongs; the other helps distinguish the issuer's named component profiles.
Prepare a useful verification record
- Confirm the product is an Essential Casement, not a Marvin Modern casement or another line. Use the exact unit identity before reading part codes across families.
- In one photo show the whole openable sash and frame; in a close-up mark whether the damaged seal is on the moving member or the stationary perimeter.
- Match the location to the cross-section legend on printed p.3, then inspect the separately drawn p.15 profiles.
- Marvin's configured-parts ordering fields include unit type, handing, exterior color, width, height, and for sash weatherstrip the component location. Record those details instead of ordering by an isolated profile photograph.
Why old part codes may confuse an identification
Marvin's Essential product history records a 2021-04-01 change from frame strip V189 to a continuous V3229. The later discontinued-parts page lists V189 → V3229 → V03477, and the product history records a 2022-06-27 change toward black weatherstrip while retaining beige for some warranty/service needs. These describe documented changes; neither color nor a historical SKU alone proves current fit for your unit.
Result. You should now be able to say “sash position” or “frame position,” with the matching printed diagram and the unit information still needed. If the unit identity or date is uncertain, retain “candidate only” rather than claiming a successor automatically fits.
